Why Volunteer with the CFFP?
Volunteering with the Canadian Foundation for Financial Planning is a powerful way to use your financial planning skills to make a difference. Volunteers from across Canada are supporting individuals living on modest incomes, helping them build financial confidence and stability.
As the backbone of our program, volunteers play a vital role in strengthening communities. Join our growing network of professionals committed to advancing financial empowerment across the country.
What will I do as a volunteer?
As a CFFP volunteer, you’ll use your financial planning skills to help build people’s financial confidence. You’ll deliver tailored financial education group workshops and/or one-to-one sessions. Your role is to empower participants with knowledge and tools, helping them make informed financial decisions and take greater control of their financial futures.
One-to-one support
In one-on-one sessions, you’ll be matched with someone seeking personalized financial planning guidance. You’ll help them explore options for goals like saving, debt repayment, or accessing benefits—focusing on education, confidence-building, and financial empowerment. Your role is to guide thoughtful decision-making by discussing strategies and weighing pros and cons, empowering participants to choose what works best for their situation. Sessions may be virtual or in-person.
Group workshops
In group workshops—held in person or online—you’ll work with newcomers to Canada using CFFP-provided materials. You’ll introduce key concepts in the Canadian financial system, such as credit and debt, avoiding scams, and understanding financial institutions.
