Is there an income cut-off?

Our services are free and available to everyone, regardless of financial circumstances. We focus on supporting financially vulnerable, low- and moderate-income adults (18+) who face barriers to accessing professional financial planning.

Can individuals from anywhere in Canada access CFFP’s services?

CFFP serves adults (18+) across Canada, offering support virtually or in person.

Is there any cost?

CFFP’s resources are free and publicly available on our website for community use. Working with one of our volunteers in one-to-one sessions is also free.

Volunteers are prohibited from promoting or selling products or services and may provide only general financial planning guidance and information.

The Foundation is an independent, registered charity supported by its Founding Members; FP Canada and Institut de planification financière (IPF), and by corporations, foundations, and individuals who believe in our mission to change lives through the power of financial planning.

We provide bilingual services in English and French, with the possibility of support in other languages subject to volunteers' availability.

What volunteer training and support is provided to the financial planners who volunteer?

CFFP provides comprehensive training and support to all volunteer financial planners. Volunteers must be financial planning professionals (either CFP® or QAFP®) in good standing with their accrediting body. Before leading any session, volunteers are required to review and agree to CFFP’s expectations regarding professional conduct and confidentiality.

If I work with a financial planning volunteer, will they be able to give me financial advice?

Our volunteers do not provide financial advice; instead, they offer personalized financial guidance. They help individuals explore their options with a focus on education, confidence-building, and financial empowerment.

How long can I work with a financial planning volunteer?

Our volunteers provide up to three free-of-charge personalized financial planning sessions for community members. Community agencies may request one-time or recurring group workshops.

How do I request support or a workshop?
